FEBRUARY 15 MARKS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S CANCER DAY.
Launched in 2001 by the Childhood Cancer International network of associations, of which Imagine for Margo is a member, this day aims to raise awareness of childhood and adolescent cancer, a still little-known cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A FEW FIGURES ON CHILDREN'S CANCER
Cancer is the number one cause of death from illness in children.
Each year, more than 300,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer worldwide.
1 in 440 children develops cancer before the age of 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CHILDREN: THE FORGOTTEN OF RESEARCH
Cancer research is primarily focused on adult cancers. However, pediatric cancers are different and therefore need to be treated with specific treatments. Only 10% of children and adolescents in Europe have access to innovative treatments. The lack of funding is a major obstacle to research against childhood cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
GROWING MOBILIZATION ON THE OCCASION OF FEBRUARY 15
